Will it be possible for employers to defend retirement ages once the default retirement age is removed in October 2011?  What will happen where benefits over a certain age become particularly expensive for an employer to provide?  We will consider these questions and other practical issues arising from the abolition of the default retirement age in October 2011, and consider the effect which this will have upon redundancy notices issued in or after April 2011.
