Davis Blank Furniss will be holding its Manchester 2015 Lasting Powers of Attorney Week from Monday 13th to Friday 17th July at its Deansgate office.
A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) enables you to appoint a trusted friend, relative or professional to make decisions about your finances, property and personal welfare in the event that you are in an accident or you develop an illness that leaves you unable to make such decisions for yourself.
During this year’s LPA Week, the firm will be offering various discounts to anyone who wishes to put an LPA in place. Prices start at £295. The week long promotion includes both types of LPA: The first covers your property and financial affairs; and the second your personal welfare and health.
Karen Witter, partner at Davis Blank Furniss, commented: “Many people don’t think an LPA is necessary or relevant to them but that’s simply not true. We are all living longer which means that the number of us suffering from dementia is expected to increase massively over the coming decades. Also, if you do not have an LPA and you develop an illness – or have an accident that leaves you mentally incapacitated – then it will be extremely challenging and frustrating for your family and friends to ensure that your needs are met and that your financial affairs are kept in order.
Karen added: Our hope is that the LPA Week helps to raise awareness and really makes people think about their long-term plans.”
