Brain Damaged 18 month old boy

Facts of the case

The young boy walked out of his front door and into his garden.  He opened the gate out onto the road and walked up to an area where children often played.

Unknown to him, a lady had parked her car near to this area and, without seeing him, reversed her car onto and over him resulting in severe brain damage.

Son who lost his father and wife who lost her husband

A won who witnessed the death of his father and was both physically and psychologically damaged as a result.  We also acted for the widow of the deceased who lost her husband.

Facts of the case

Father and son were working together on a digger in an industrial area.  Unknown to them, they had been supplied with faulty equipment and as a result the digger fell down a ramp and rolled down a hill.  Tragically, the father died and the son suffered physical and psychological injuries.

Damages award

The son was awarded £325,000 for physical injuries, psychological injuries and loss of earnings.  The widow was awarded £90,000 under a fatal accident compensation scheme.

Workplace accident leads to serious neck injuries

Who we acted for

A man who sustained severe neck injuries after a workplace accident.

Facts of the case

The man as working on a digger which, thought no fault of his own, fell 100ft through the air.  As a result, he suffered severe neck injuries.  On admission to hospital, staff failed to appreciate the seriousness of the injuries and exasperated his condition by trying to re-mobilise him.

Damages award

The claim, against his employers and the hospital, resulted in a damages award of over £200,000.

The plumber was working on a property and was electrocuted as thieves had stolen the waste disposal unit and left wires exposed.

Facts of the case

The lady, who was partially sighted, worked at a fish and chips shop.  Her employers had failed to tell her that a trench had been dug behind the shop door.  On opening the door, she fell down the trench, suffering injuries to her ankle and shoulder.
